Sunpeak Construction worked with Snyder Langston on building the Icon Sign Tower for the Outlets at San Clemente located right off the 405 Freeway. The Sign Tower project was designed by Awbrey, Cook, Rogers, McGill Architects + Interiors, and has an Old Spanish Design look with Santa Barbara Plaster Finish with Distressed shaped foam details and U-Shaped Roof Tiles. The construction involved preparing a new pad, pouring a new foundation & slab with Structural Steel. Sunpeak Construction team used 20-gauge Metal studs for Infill Framing between structural steel members and Metal Decking for the roof. After approvals of framing inspections, Exterior Dense Glass Sheathings were installed to the entire exterior surface followed by waterproofing and Exterior Two-Ply Super Jumbo Tex Weather-Resistive Barrier, Galvanized Metal Lath, Scratch Coat, Brown Coat, and Exterior Acrylic Omega Plaster Finish with proper curing time between each layer. DryBond polymer-modified cement was applied on the Brown Coat surface to provide a high-performance adhesive base for the AkroFlex EIF System and EPS foam shapes. The interior of this sign tower is finished with 5/8” Type X Fire-Rated Gyp Board also known as Fire-Rated Drywall with level 4 taping. All the EMP penetrations were caulked with Hilti Fire Caulking and then the entire area was primed & painted. The Tower currently is used for storage and equipment room for the mall.
The Sign Tower is a beautiful monument for the Outlets at San Clemente and is clearly visible in both directions of the 405 Freeway.
